There's a band of women in India who fight, sometimes violently, for the elimination of corruption in government and for woman's rights. These women are known to carry long sticks in the event that they are forced to defend themselves for speaking their minds publicly.
They are known as The Pink Gang - a nod to the vibrant pink traditional Indian gown, the sari, which they wear to identify themselves as part of this movement.
This photo of my daughter in her pink sari reminds me of these brave women - I hope that she carries the same sense of justice in her heart, and that she always has the courage to say so in the face of oppression.
